PVC kitchens are constructed by wrapping MDF with PVC sheets, whereas lacquer kitchens are made by painting MDF. Lacquer kitchen doors can be painted on both sides, whereas PVC doors are typically single-sided, with the backside coated in melamine. In terms of quality, lacquer kitchens offer superior durability, a smoother touch, and a more appealing appearance post-installation, especially when featuring a finger pull style. Consequently, their price is higher. However, PVC kitchens have a significant advantage in production time, taking 5 to 10 days less to manufacture than lacquer kitchens.
MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) is favored for its smooth and flat surface, making it ideal for kitchen finishes demanding high flatness, like painting , PVC laminating and wood veneer attachment. Its versatility shines in crafting various designs, from shaker doors to raised panels. In contrast, plywood excels in durability and moisture resistance over MDF. Despite its higher cost, plywood is better suited for upscale cabinetry, such as solid wood cabinets, or for kitchens in humid areas.
HPL excels in durability, scratch resistance, and heat resistance due to its thicker skin and high-pressure production process. HPL also offers a richer and more realistic range of color textures compared to melamine. However, HPL kitchens tend to be significantly more expensive than melamine options. For wardrobes, melamine is a suitable choice, while HPL is ideal for kitchens and vanity cabinets where a higher budget allows for its superior qualities.
Regular cleaning is the key to keeping kitchen cabinets clean and dust-free. To clean cabinets, the best choice is soft cloths that are lint-free. Great types of cloths to use are soft cotton fabrics such as cheesecloth. When cleaning your cabinets, use natural products that won't scratch the cabinet finish or leave sticky residues. Water will destroy your wood kitchens. Never leave water in your kitchen cabinet for long time and avoid water leaking into the kitchen door and boxes.
