A measurement sheet should record six things per wall: the wall dimensions at three heights, the corner check, the services, the ceiling, the appliance models and a sketch. Add a sign-off with a name and date. A measurement is only useful if the next person can read it without asking.
Three heights per wall; use the smallest.
Check corners with 3-4-5.
Record five services with height and offset.
Sketch and photograph each wall.
Sign and date the sheet.
1. Why a sheet
A measurement is data, and data needs a format. A sheet with fixed fields stops the measurement drifting between rooms and between measurers. It also makes the handover to drawing and production cleaner, because the same fields feed the shop drawing.
2. Fields per wall
| Campo | Record | Nota: |
|---|---|---|
| Corner check | 3-4-5 diagonal | Record the gap |
| Servicios | Altura y desplazamiento | Five services |
| Techo | Cada esquina | Utilice el más bajo |
| Electrodomésticos | Marca y modelo | Include services |
| Bosquejo | One per wall | Fotografiarlo |
Six fields per wall, one sheet per room. The sheet should be readable by someone who was not there.
3. Walls and corners
Measure each wall at three heights and use the smallest. Check each corner with a 3-4-5 triangle and record the gap, not just a yes or no. The gap tells the drafter how much filler or scribe the corner needs. The guía de medición explica el método.
4. Servicios
Record sockets, water, waste, gas and extract with height and offset from the nearest corner. A service that is in the wrong place cannot be covered by a cabinet, and moving it after the cabinets are made is expensive.
5. Ceiling and appliances
Measure the ceiling at each corner and use the lowest point, because that is what the tall cabinet must fit under. Record the make and model of every appliance, including the ventilation and hose space behind.
6. Sketch and photo
Sketch each wall with dimensions on the sketch, then photograph the wall and the sketch. A photo alone is not a measurement, but it records the condition and the services. Keep the photo set with the sheet.
7. Cierre de sesión
The person who measured signs and dates the sheet. If the measurement is wrong, the signature makes the responsibility clear. A sheet without a name is an anonymous guess.
8. Handing over
Send the sheet, the photos and the sketch to the drafter as one package. The revisión del dibujo de taller shows how the fields turn into a drawing, and where a missing field becomes a question.
Preguntas frecuentes
What should a measurement sheet include?
Walls at three heights, corners checked with 3-4-5, five services, ceiling at each corner, appliance models, a sketch per wall and a sign-off.
Why three points per wall?
Because walls bow. The smallest dimension is the one the cabinet has to fit, so measuring at three heights avoids a surprise at installation.
How do I record services?
Height and offset from the nearest corner, with a photo. A service that is 50 mm off can change the cabinet layout.
Do I need a sketch?
Yes. A sketch with dimensions shows the reference point; a list of numbers does not. Photograph each wall with the sketch.
Who should sign the sheet?
The person who measured, with a date. If the measurement is wrong, the signature makes the responsibility clear.
Can I use the sheet for a bathroom or laundry?
Yes, with the same fields. Wet areas need the board grade and the ventilation note added.
